Statement:
Where Cars Can't Drive, We Walk (Life in LA) was an experiment and performance I conducted in the summer of 2011. As an LA native most of my experiences happen from within my car. I began to think that this form of transportation may be holding me back from places I have yet to explore in the city. I decided to take a cloth footprint the size of my car at the time ( a Prius) and fill it with the contents of my car. From my parking spot I carried these materials to the top of Runyon Canyon, allowing myself and my personal items to move beyond the reaches of my car.
